I had someone email me to let me know that they had used my pattern to make sizes larger.. They had used a larger hook to get the size.

For extra large use the small pattern with a hook size K

2X use the medium pattern with a N hook

and for 3X use the large pattern and a N hook..

You add more rows at the end for your length..

I have not had the chance to check to see how this works.

Adult Poncho Sweater

Size Medium

2-3 skeins of Caron Simply soft

J hook

Stitches used:

2dc ch 1 = 1/2 shell

2dc ch 1 2 dc = full shell

Ch 106, Join to form ring, becarefull to not twist

Rnd 1: Ch 1 sc in same st, sc in each around - 106 sc

Rnd 2: Ch 1 sc in same st, sc in each around- 106 sc

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in each st around- 106 dc

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2dc into same stitch,ch1 **skip 2 st, 2 dc, ch 1 into next space, skip 1 stitch, 2dc ch 1 in next, skip 2 ** repeat from**to ** for total of 20 1/2 shells. Than you will do 2dc, ch1, 2 dc into next stitch, skip 1, 2 dc, ch1 into next, skip 2. Repeating the skipping 2 stitches or 1 stitch pattern..

Total of 40 1/2 shells 2 full shells

Rnd 5:slip stitch to ch 1 sp. ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc into space, 2dc ch 1 into each space around. Do full shell into next shell, repeat- 44 1/2 shells 2 full

Rnd 6-18: repeat rnd 5

Rnd 19: Sleeve Section

slip stitch into ch 1 sp. do full shell, do a total of 11 1/2 shells , chain 5 than you will skip a total of 15 half shells for your arm opening. You will than do the 1/2 shell into the 16th space after the 15th half shell skipped. Continue pattern to the center full shell. Than you will do 10 1/2 shells again and repeat for next sleeve..

Rnd 20 slip stitch into ch 1 sp, do full shell, 1/2 shells into each ch 1 space. In the arm hole you will do a total of 3 1/2 shells ch1. Repeat around

Rnd 21- 35 Repeat round 5

Edging around sleeves:

Sc in each stitch around

Rnd 2 ch 1, sc in each stitch around

Rnd3: ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Fasten off

Repeat on other sleeve.

Add fringe to bottom. or if you want you can do the scallop edge like the 12/15 months.. Follow those instructions

For tie follow steps on size 4/5

or for flower follow steps on size 12/15 months

Dc- double crochet

half shell: 2dc ch 1

Shell: 2 dc, ch1, 2 dc

Chain 96 Join to form ring. Becareful to not twist.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each stitch around: 96 total

Rnd2: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around: 96 total

Rnd3: Ch 3, dc in each stitch around: 96 total

Rnd4: Ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc in same stitch, ch 1,** skip 2 stitches, 2 dc, ch 1 in next stitch. skip 1 stitch, 2 dc, ch 1 in next stitch ** repeat from ** to** for a total of 18 half shells. Shell in next stitch, than repeat with half shells alternating with skipping 2 stitches and 2 stitch in between each around(18 half shells) Join: total of 36 half shells and 2 shells

Rnd 5 thru 19 : slip stitch to center of shell, ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2dc in same stitch, ***ch 1, 2 dc in next ch 1 space*** Repeat around to shell and do a full shell in the full shell. than continue with pattern.

ARM HOLE SECTION

Rnd 20: slip stitch to center of shell, Ch 2, dc, ch 1, 2dc in ch 1 sp.** ch 1, 2dc in next ch 1 sp repeat till after you have done 10- 1/2 shells, chain 5 Now skip 14 shells(armhole) 2dc,ch 1 in next ch 1 sp into the 15th space after you have skipped the 14-1/2 shells** repeat to center shell, do full shell again** Repeat from** to last shell, join..

Rnd 21: Follow pattern till you get to the **chain 5 space in the arm hole, here you will in the first sc of the chain do a half shell,chain 1 skip the next sc, half shell, chain 1 in next, skip one, half shell chain 1 in last sc.** Than cont. pattern in the chain 1 spaces around till you get to the arm hole section again, than repeat from **..

Rnd 22 thru 30: Repeat pattern

Rnd 31: do half shells all around, join fasten off

Join yarn to sleeve opening. Sc in each stitch around

Rnd 2 ch 1, sc in each stitch a

Rnd3: ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Fasten off

Repeat on other sleeve.

Add Fringe to bottom

Rnd 5:slip stitch to ch 1 sp. ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc into space, 2dc ch 1 into each space around. Do full shell into next shell, repeat- 46 1/2 shells 2 full

Rnd 6-20: repeat rnd 5

ARM HOLE SECTION

Rnd 21: slip stitch into ch 1 sp. do full shell, do a total of 11 -1/2 shells, chain 5 than you will skip a total of 16 half shells for your arm opening. You will than do the 1/2 shell into the 17th space after the 16th half shell skipped. Continue pattern to the center full shell. Than you will do 11 -1/2 shells chain 5 again and continue pattern thru
